In line with this year’s theme, “Innovate today. Nourish tomorrow,” FOPCO Africa celebrates the contributions of food value chain actors who have helped make flagship innovations such as FOPCO Shamba a possibility.
Our team believes that Africa’s food security depends on empowering smallholder farmers and other food value chain actors to access emerging technologies. This can help them move from subsistence production towards profitable and sustainable entrepreneurship models.
This transition must build on indigenous knowledge while supporting the responsible scaling of technology, addressing barriers to access to knowledge and safe, nutritious food, and promoting environmental stewardship.
We believe better food futures are built through collaboration—and by ensuring that communities help shape the solutions that affect them.
